Anarchist and anti-fascist victory day actions in solidarity and in Russia
Published on 2006, by Avtonom, ©Avtonom.
Regardless of the fact that we anarchists have no illusions about the aims of the Second World War and the so-called "victory over fascism" -- which was first of all the victory of the stalinist USSR over fascist Germany -- we welcome the anti-fascist actions taking place around the 9 May holiday and report on various news agencies and the active groups» websites.

Israel-Palestine: Bil’in and the joint struggle against the wall
Published on 2006-05-22, by anonymous, ©A-infos.
The theme of today’s demo was Palestinian villages today and the Nakba of 1948.
Bil’iners and members of the Anarchists Against the Wall
, as well as ISM and international activists, carried signs with the names of villages affected, cut off, or encapsulated by the occupation. Notably we carried a banner showing Dir Yassin in 1948 and Bil’in in 2006 with the title disaster
in Arabic, English and Hebrew.
The army and police were already waiting for us as usual. Today (like the last 3 weeks) they were waiting in armoured vehicles, well secure behind the barbed wire barricade they set up since the protesters destroyed the yellow checkpoint gate at the fence route.

Israeli & Palestinian Media: Activists Protest Apartheid Wall
Published on 2006-05-14, by WAFA, ©WAFA.
200 Israeli peace activists approached the a-Ram checkpoint, along with Palestinians demonstrators, protested Saturday against the Apartheid wall being built the West Bank village of ar-Ram, north of Jerusalem. Gush shalom Israeli Peace Group said the demonstration was even stormier than usual -- contrary to the intentions of the demonstrators themselves. The march was organised under the title: No to Walls and Checkpoints, Yes to Negotiation and No to Unilateral Convergence." "It was carefully prepared as a non-violent protest," said the Group. "The pupils of the elementary schools in their school uniforms led the demonstration, with the smallest in front. But to no avail: the army and police had decided in advance to suppress the demonstration by force."

Poland - wave of student actions
Published on 2006, by L., ©A-infos.
Today, people from the Students' Initiative held protests around Poland against the new Minister of Education, Roman Giertych. Giertych is the extreme-right leader of the League of Polish families, and the youth organization he reactivated (which had a history before the communist days of conducting progroms) is best known for attacking gay parades and the like. In Warsaw there was a very lively demo with many slogans against religion in schools, for libertarian education and against the government. The demonstration was joined by some people and many people sitting in cafes along the route were applauding. About 1000 people took part. Other demos were held in Szczecin, Krakow, Katowice, Czestochowa, Wroclaw and Rzesów. We are just getting in reports but we are told they went without incident, gathered a couple of hundred people each and had wide public support from pedestrians and others on the street.
